Evautation

i have found this unit very useful for the elements of researching, producing test renders and problem solving this are some of the area that i and the deep team will be working on toward the final film in the upcoming year, this unit has showed me where ive gone wrong and how to resolute this issues.

Lighting For Joe.
i wanted to try something different for this project and lighting something i wanted to do because lighting is a very important element of a film and i wanted to find out how it works in maya.

the outcomes i have produced i am pleased with seeing it really my first time doing lighting. i have a better understanding on how lighting works, and the depth u can go to with lighting. what i got from this area was lighting is very try one thing different see how it work, but i see the beauty in that there so many element which can change and effect the scene your trying to light.

there was a few problem along the way when losing 2011 for some time trying to import the files into Maya 8.5 didnt always work the texturse were out of light and the lighting i tried to put in the scene didnt show on the render view and yer the defult lights were off, so started the scene again importing the models for carlos the footage made shaw the project was set source images where in place and then it finally worked. i think joe is pleased with the work i have done, i trust if he wasn't happy he would tell me, and im glad he give me the opatuterty to work on this for his film.

Bubbles for Andy.

After the first meeting with dan bubbles was talked about and i took on the job to research and product some bubble solutions for the film. starting with looking in Maya for some ideas and i already know about aftereffects bubbles preset but never used them.
the problems in aftereffects with the bubbles was i couldn't control the way the bubbles moved and the way they disburse well enough when bubbles moved out of the layer frame the bubbles go out of shot which isn't really believable underwater. i can safely say the bubbles could be used in the background very comftabley.
but the second helmet test was much better then the first i made the bubbles look more believable this time round because they was moving all over the place the had a direction onwards and upwards.
Maya bubbles
i reallly couldnt get my head round maya bubbles which is my own fault i should of looked more into the area but the only way i could think would be able to do it would to multiply the layers, the number of bubbles with a bigger amount and a lot of time to animate and deform the bubble in shot.

Props
after doing the prop animation tutorial i wanted to try and do some more constraint animation with props so i modelled a camera and tried it. i didn't have enough time before hand in to give it some more time but il work on it outside the project to work on my animation skills.

as a whole i think this project was successful i know i had problem with some stuff but that was the beauty of this unit thats the point. i think when it come to the time when the element i have focused on in this unit come to pass i will have a clear understand what and what not to do and hopefully impress my team with the workflow i produce.

the scene

my scene for the prop animaiton i modeled a ruff animate this is just a shot of picking up the camera

bit of primary reseach i wanted to see how the hand reacts with the camera so will did it for me

i wanted him to do it for a second time because in the script the kid is in a rush so he went faster there a great arc the hand dose after picking up the camera how the effect of weight on his hand

if i have enough time i will do a quick little test of the character taking a photo. i wanted to film then roto scope in maya.

this is a quick test i did using parent constrains on the object it works if the object is static but if it would move in his hand would be believable. the way to do this is to crate a group which holds all the constrain and a control object free for animation on it own.

polariod

Andy said something about the camera in the deep would be like a polariod im going to do a quick model nothing to fancy but maybe as a side project or maybe for the film.

lighting done and dusted.

front view no shadows.

digital Tutors lighting

again thanks to the parentsfor this one digital tutors intro to lighting thought aswell as this is the first time doing lighting i would check out DT introduction to lighting. which shows us all the lighting in maya and how to use them in your scenes
point Lighting go to use with something like a light bulb because as a real light bulb the point light works in the same way giving lighting way in ever direction.

spot light as well as the point light it work in the same way as a normal spot light work with it comb light rays. good to show off shadows.

area lighting works different from the other lights, because its works by serrate the light for a large area. it can light a 180 degrees radius

ambient light its dosnt give off a harsh shadow from the light that ant directed lit by the light . so its good for indirect light.

directional light it give a even light rays and ever converse . it very good for a sun with a light like my scene for joes project

after check out the tutor i think the best lights i should use for joe's project would be spot light for shadows and a area & directional light for the sun in my scene.

Props Animaiton

ok bad start the programe i need is 2011 which i do not have, i need to hunt down a trail befor getting started a tiny setback but its ok wont take long to resolve.

toke about 30 mins my old 2011 wouldnt check to the interent so i fixed that and put in my code and key then loged into my autodesk userID and was sorted so got maya for 3 years now ;) nice.

the first tutoral i wanted to try out was how to approach prop animation. thinking of the camera animation this tutoral uses a cup and animated arm, it shows how to work with constrain it give me a great way of animating between the different spaces the object will be contold in, this footage was a constrain of the hand and cup but at the moment it was always constrained to the hand. in the next video it showed how to use blend parent atc it helps controling the object but the parent constrain to the hand and to the world.

the film upload of the tutoral i did, now i will use what i learned to animaiton the carema in the chartchers hand or how he could pick it up.

Digital Tutors Animaiton with props

i saw this really useful tutioral on animating with props and throught could be useful for the animaiton when the boy has the camera, i was going to do some animaiton to fill my folders i want to do as much as i can.
